2015 Dublin Literary Award longlist includes 11 Canadian titles

MaddAddamThe longlist for the 19th International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, a prize of €100,000, was announced today.  Each year, public libraries worldwide nominate titles of “high literary merit”    this year Canadian libraries in Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa, St. John, St. John’s, Cape Breton, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg participated. Books nominated for the 2015 award must have been published in or translated to English in 2013.

Among the 130 nominated titles are the following 11 by Canadian authors:

On this year’s jury is Canadian author and 2009 Governal General Award for Fiction winner Kate Pullinger, as well as Oxford English professor and literary historian Valentine Cunningham, novelist and short-story writer Christine Dwyer Hickey, award-winning author and translator Daniel Hahn, and writer Jordi Soler, headed by non-voting chair Hon. Eugene R. Sullivan, a novelist and former U.S. chief judge.

A shortlist of up to 10 titles will be announced in April 2015, and the winner selected in June.
