Simon & Schuster is seeking a Senior Book Designer for a 12 month contract position in our Toronto office. The primary task of this position is designing approximately 30 to 40 original cover designs per year, reformatting numerous conversions (from international lists), and overseeing the delivery of jacket mechanicals through editorial, pre-press and into print. The Senior Book Designer is also responsible creating layouts for epub materials and galleys and managing the digital feeds of Canadian publishing materials. In addition to cover design and production work, the Senior Book Designer works closely with Marketing, Publicity and Sales to create print and online ad designs for consumer, co-op, and trade publications, promotional material, and sales material for accounts.
Requirements:
We are looking for a designer with experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, etc), with minimum 2+ years Graphic Design experience in Book Publishing, familiarity with HTML and Java/Flash.
