It’s the 100th anniversary of Samuel Beckett’s birth today, and the University of Texas at Austin is celebrating with a website called “Fathoms from Anywhere: A Samuel Beckett Centenary Exhibition.” Based on a 1984 non-virtual exhibition, the site offers information about Beckett’s life, work, and contemporaries, illustrated with plenty of photos and book covers.
And the opening page is a very nice touch. Normally In Other Media has little patience for splash pages that offer nothing more than an “enter here” link, but this one has two links: “I can’t go on” takes you back to whatever you were previously viewing, while “I’ll go on” brings you into the site proper.
(Thanks to Maudnewton.com for the link.)
