Paul Quarrington
Years before Penthouse declared Quarrington’s 1989 novel Whale Music (Doubleday Canada) “the best rock ’n’ roll novel ever written,” the Toronto musician and author performed in a high school folk duo with pal Dan Hill. Before his death from cancer in 2010, Quarrington toured nationally with his blues-roots band, Porkbelly Futures, which he documented in the posthumously released memoir Cigar Box Banjo: Notes on Music and Life (Greystone Books).
