We will probably never really know, but come this fall, fans of Norm MacDonald – the comedic genius behind the Saturday Night Live character – will get to know the Canadian comedian a little more with the publication of his memoir, Based on a True Story.
Published in Canada by HarperCollins, the book will follow MacDonald’s life and career, from growing up in rural Ottawa to his stint as host of SNL‘s “Weekend Update.” According to the press release, “the trick for the reader will be deciphering which stories are real, and which are made up, by the infamous storyteller.”
The book was acquired by HarperCollins senior editor Kate Cassaday. It will be published in the U.S. by Penguin Random House imprint Spiegel & Grau.
