The Writers’ Trust of Canada has named its Berton House Writers’ Retreat residents for the coming year.
Toronto-based poet Claire Caldwell will begin her residency in July, followed by P.E.I. author Debra Komar, Vancouver children’s author Stacey Matson, and playwright and fiction author Drew Hayden Taylor, whose residency ends in June 2017.
Recipients were chosen from 73 national applicants by a selection committee of former writers-in-residence. The three-month residency takes place in the Dawson City, Yukon, childhood home of author Pierre Berton and offers writers a monthly honorarium and the opportunity to perform public readings and become involved in the local community while taking reprieve to focus on a body of work.
