Julie Kraulis serves up great books with First Book Canada and PRH

photo 1 Children’s author-illustrator Julie Kraulis made an appearance at the Rogers Cup in Toronto on July 23 to give a talk and book signing as part of First Book Canada’s Serving Up Great Books campaign. The program was launched in conjunction with Penguin Random House Canada and Tennis Canada to promote literacy and sport together. Local tennis players aged 10 to 12 took part in a clinic that linked professional tennis coaching with reading and learning. Participants received a copy of Kraulis’s An Armadillo in New York and a number of other age-appropriate books from PRH Canada and First Book.

“It has been very special working with First Book Canada,” said Kraulis in a release. “The organization is creating a powerful culture of literacy in placing books in the hands of kids in need across the country. Books transform lives and it is exciting to think about how these books will enlighten, open doors, and bring great memories.”
