The Crime Writers of Canada unveiled the winners of its annual Arthur Ellis Awards on Thursday night at a gala held at the Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre in Toronto. The winners were as follows:
Best Novel: Howard Shrier, High Chicago (Random House Canada)
Best First Novel: Alan Bradley, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Doubleday Canada)
Best Non-fiction: Terry Gould, Murder Without Borders (Random House Canada)
Best Juvenile: Barbara Haworth-Attard, Haunted (HarperCollins Canada)
Derrick Murdoch Award (for outstanding contribution to crime writing): Peter Robinson
Best Short Story: Dennis Richard Murphy, “Prisoner in Paradise” (Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine)
Best Crime Writing in French: Jean Lemieux, Le mort du chemin des Arsene (La courte échelle)
Best Unpublished First Crime Novel: Gloria Ferris, The Corpse Flower
