The First Nation Communities Read program has revealed its 10th anniversary shortlist.
Among the finalists is Richard Wagamese’s novel Indian Horse (Douglas & McIntyre), a Q&Q book of the year for 2012. The other shortlisted titles are:
- Motorcycles and Sweetgrass, Drew Hayden Taylor (Vintage Canada)
- Nobody Cries at BINGO, Dawn Dumont (Thistledown Press)
- A Stranger at Home: A True Story, Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton; Liz Amini-Holmes, illus. (Annick Press)
- Sugar Falls: A Residential School Story, David Alexander Robertson; Scott B. Henderson, illus. (Highwater Press)
The FNCR jury selected the shortlist from 35 submissions and a 22-title longlist. The winner will be chosen during National Aboriginal History Month and National Aboriginal Day celebrations in June.
