Author William New

William New is the 20th recipient of the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award, a prize that honours an outstanding literary career in B.C. New is a scholar and poet who has written and edited more than 50 books and lived most of his life in the province.

New received a cheque for $5,000 and his name will be added to the Writer’s Walk in Vancouver, alongside luminaries such as Alice Munro, Jane Rule, David Suzuki, and Eric Nicol.
