Six finalists have been announced for the 2012 Lane Anderson Award for Canadian-authored books in the field of science. A winner will be chosen in each of two categories: books for adults and books for young readers. Winners will be awarded $10,000 each.

Adult book finalists:

• Fatal Flaws, Jay Ingram (HarperCollins Canada)
• The Universe Within, Neil Turok (House of Anansi Press)
• Superbodies, Greg Wells (Collins Canada)

Books for young readers finalists:

• Big Green Book of the Big Blue Sea, Helaine Becker (Kids Can Press)
• Canada Recycles, Peter Cooke and Laura Suzuki (Scholastic Canada)
• How to Raise Monarch Butterflies, Carol Pasternak (Firefly Books)
