Toronto poet Ann Shin has won the Anne Green Award for her collection, The Family China (Brick Books).

Named after the founding director of Calgary’s Wordfest, the multidisciplinary award honours artistic works that “explore and challenge traditional forms of story and narrative.” Shin, who is also a documentary filmmaker, developed a series of short videos and a performance piece to accompany the book.

Shin will receive the $3,000 award at a Wordfest event on Oct. 15.
