Neil Turok and Helaine Becker have been awarded the 2012 Lane Anderson Award for excellence in Canadian science writing, winning $10,000 each.
Turok, the director of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physic, won for his CBC Massey Lectures, The Universe Within: From Quantum to Cosmos, published by House of Anansi Press. Bestselling children’s and non-fiction author Helaine Becker won for The Big Green Book of the Big Blue Sea (Kids Can Press), illustrated by Willow Dawson, a middle-grade book that shows how the ocean works and why it needs to be protected.
Now in its fourth year, the award is presented annually by the Fitzhenry Family Foundation.
