Full Frontal T.O. wins Heritage Toronto Award for Books

From Patrick Cummins’ Full Frontal T.O.: photos of one storefront taken a decade apart

The 2013 Heritage Toronto Award of Excellence for Books was presented to Full Frontal T.O.: Exploring Toronto’s Architectural Vernacular (Coach House Books) at an awards ceremony last night.

The book features more than 400 photographic “mugshots” of the city by Patrick Cummins with accompanying text by Shawn Micallef.

Cummins has been a City of Toronto archivist since 1986 and has been photographing the city’s architecture since the late ’70s, while journalist and university instructor Micallef authored Stroll: Psychogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto (Coach House Books).

Heritage Toronto presents annual awards recognizing excellence in the categories of Community Heritage, Media, Book, Short Publication, and Architectural Conservation and Craftmanship.
