The League of Canadian Poets has announced the winners of its annual awards, which were presented June 7 at the LCP Poetry Festival and Conference in Toronto.
The inaugural Raymond Souster Award, which recognizes the best book of poetry by a league member, was presented to Anne Compton for Alongside (Fitzhenry & Whiteside).
The Pat Lowther Memorial Award, given for a collection by a Canadian woman, was awarded to Alexandra Oliver for Meeting the Tormentors in Safeway (Biblioasis).
The Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, which recognizes a debut collection, was won by Murray Reiss for The Survival Rate of Butterflies in the Wild (Hagios Press).
The three winners each received $1,000.
