The Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Non-fiction has announced its 2014 jury.
The three-member jury is composed of faces familiar to the Weston Prize, considered the richest non-fiction literary award in Canada. Charles Foran won the 2011 award for his biography Mordecai: The Life & Times (Knopf Canada). Priscila Uppal was nominated in 2013 for her memoir Projection: Encounters with My Runaway Mother (Dundurn Press). Rounding out the group is Merrily Weisbord, who was a finalist for the 2010 Writers’ Trust Non-fiction Prize (precursor to the Weston Prize) for The Love Queen of Malabar: Memoir of a Friendship with Kamala Das (McGill-Queen’s University Press).
Finalists will be announced Sept. 17 at a press conference in Toronto. The $60,000 prize winner will be announced at a gala at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Oct. 14.
