Actors Kim Coates and Jessica Paré will join author and activist Naomi Klein as presenters for the Scotiabank Giller Prize gala, which will be held at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Toronto on Nov. 10.
With less than a month until the winner is announced, the prize’s official broadcaster, the CBC, has revealed a few details about the event. Coates, Paré, and Klein will present the work of finalists David Bezmozgis (The Betrayers), Heather O’Neill (The Girl Who Was Saturday Night), and Miriam Toews (All My Puny Sorrows). Three additional presenters are yet to be announced for the remaining nominees, Frances Itani (Tell), Sean Michaels (Us Conductors), and Padma Viswanathan (The Ever After of Ashwin Rao).
Jian Ghomeshi will host the gala, which CBC Television will broadcast live at 9 pm. EST.
The shortlist and winner are selected by Canadian author Shauna Singh Baldwin, British novelist Justin Cartwright, and American writer Francine Prose. This year, the purse has been doubled to $100,000 for the winner and $10,000 to each of the finalists.
