Casey Plett wins Lambda Literary Award for transgender fiction

1Winnipeg author and columnist Casey Plett has been named winner of the 2015 Lambda Literary Award in the transgender fiction category.

The awards aim to recognize the best English-language LGBT titles published the previous year. This year, 818 titles were submitted in 27 categories.

Plett’s collection A Safe Girl to Love (Topside Press) features 11 stories about young trans women’s experiences with loss, harassment, sex, and love, set in environments spanning rural Mennonite communities to busy New York bars.

Plett received her award at the Lammys ceremony on June 1 at New York City’s Great Hall at Cooper Union.
