Canadian Council for the Arts has announced two-time Scotiabank Giller Prize–winning author M.G. Vassanji as a recipient of its annual $50,000 Molson Prize.

The award recognizes two distinguished members of the arts and social-science communities in Canada for long-term contributions to their field, chosen by a peer assessment-committee appointed by the Canada Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Legal scholar Constance Backhouse was named the second winner.
