Laurie MacFayden wins second Goldie Award

Laurie MacFaydenThe Texas-based Golden Crown Literary Society has named Edmonton author and artist Laurie MacFayden winner of a 2015 Goldie Award for her book of poetry, kissing keeps us afloat (Frontenac House). MacFayden previously won the award in 2011 for her collection White Shirt.

The GCLS is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and honour lesbian literature. It offers annual awards in 13 genre categories and five special categories for books published the previous year.

MacFayden was honoured along with her fellow winners at a ceremony on July 25 at the annual GCLS conference in in New Orleans, though she was unfortunately unable to attend.
