Maya Munro wins Quebec Writers’ Federation community award

Maya Munro Byers, co-owner of the indie bookstore Livres Babar Books, in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, and the recently shuttered Babar En Ville, has been named winner of the Quebec Writers’ Federation Judy Mappin Community Award.

Byers was honoured for her contributions to the industry and for “instilling a love of literature” in readers as a bookseller of more than 30 years. She also co-founded the Montreal’s Literature Roundtable.

Byers will be presented with the award at the 2015 QWF Literary Awards at the Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre in Montreal on Nov. 18.
