Scotiabank Giller Prize to offer Banff Centre writing residency

Giller_logoThe Scotiabank Giller Prize – Canada’s most prestigious award for an English-language work of fiction – will now offer its winners, in addition to its $100,000 purse, a writing residency at the Banff Centre in Alberta.

The prize recipient will take part in the two-week self-directed residency at the centre’s Laighton Artists’ Colony.

Carolyn Warren, vice-president of arts at the Banff Centre, said in a press release: “The Banff Centre has traditionally been a rite of passage for many laureates of the Scotiabank Giller Prize. We’re thrilled to partner with the prize, which shares our goal of celebrating and advancing great Canadian literature, by providing this residency. We look forward to welcoming the finest in Canadian literary talent each year to our campus.’
