Humber College’s The Humber Literary Review has named the winners of its first Emerging Writers Fiction Contest.
Author Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer judged the winning entries from an 11-story longlist selected by the publication’s editorial collective.
- First prize: Brittany Smith, “Sand”
- Second prize: Mahak Jain, “In Transit”
- Third prize: George Wilder, “English Lessons”
The three winning stories will appear in the Review‘s spring 2016 issue. Honourable mentions – Christopher Evans’ “Cakewalk,” Michael Goldlist’s “Pasha and Dr. Mack Probe the Universe and Themselves,” and Michael Melgaard’s “A Pregnancy” – will be published online.
