Awards: R.W. Gray, Sue Goyette, Gary L. Saunders win 2016 East Coast Literary Awards

The Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia announced the winners of this year’s East Coast Literary Awards at a ceremony at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on June 4.

The winners were selected by peer assessment juries from a pool of 68 eligible submissions.

University of New Brunswick English professor and writer R.W. Gray won the $25,000 Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award for his sophomore short-story collection, Entropic (NeWest Press).

Nova Scotia poet and novelist Sue Goyette was awarded the $2,000 J.M Abraham Poetry Award for her 2015 collection, The Brief Reincarnation of a Girl (Gaspereau Press).

And Nova Scotia-based Gary L. Saunders was the recipient of the $2,000 Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award for his autobiography, My Life With Trees (Gaspereau).
