Awards: Wab Kinew lands on Dayton Literary Peace Prize shortlist

FeatureBoTY_December_Notable_Wab01Canadian politician and broadcaster Wab Kinew has been named the sole Canadian finalist for this year’s Dayton Literary Peace Prize‚ a U.S.-based international literary prize celebrating books that take up culturally relevant topics to help spread peace‚ social justice‚ and reconciliation.

Kinew is nominated in the non-fiction category for The Reason You Walk (Penguin Canada), his Kobo Emerging Writer Prize–winning memoir about his journey to reconnect with his terminally ill father and the stories he’s confronted with of residential schools when he returns home.

Kinew is one of six authors in each of two categories‚ all of whom will receive a $2,500 purse. The winner of the $10,000 prize will be announced at a gala ceremony in Dayton‚ Ohio, on Nov. 20.
