Move aside, Game Change. A new political tell-all is set to hit shelves on Jan. 30: the aptly titled The Politician: An Insider’s Account of John Edwards’s Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down, written by Edwards’s former campaign aide Andrew Young. The book purportedly offers a revealing look at the affair Edwards tried to hide from the media and his cancer-stricken wife. Today, John and Elizabeth Edwards announced their separation after Edwards admitted last week to fathering his mistress’s young daughter. From Reuters:
A statement from Elizabeth Edwards’ publicist at Random House, which published her book last year, Resilience, said Elizabeth Edwards, 60, is moving on with her life and wants to put this difficult chapter behind her.
As for the book itself, the Wall Street Journal offers several sample revelations, including the ever-personable Edwards on having to make appearances at state fairs: I know I’m the people’s senator, but do I have to hang out with them?
