Events: Kevin Sylvester and Robert Munsch at Telling Tales

The second annual Telling Tales festival was held in Hamilton, Ontario’s Westfield Heritage Village on Sunday, Sept. 19. The festival, which raises money for Hamilton-area literacy programs, attracted dozens and dozens of families who came to see the likes of Kenneth Oppel, Hugh Brewster, Nathalie Ghent, Wallace Edwards, Phillip Roy, and more. Author and illustrator Kevin Sylvester appears to have taken some time out from coaching college football to regale the crowd with chapters of his first YA novel, Neil Flambé and the Marco Polo Murders (Key Porter Books).

Surprise performer Robert Munsch faces the crowd.
