Used copies of The Sentimentalists from $189.74

On Monday, Q&Q reported on the retail shortages of several Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlisted titles. As it turns out, indie bookshops aren’t the only ones missing copies of Johanna Skibsrud’s The Sentimentalists (Gaspereau Press). The book is “Temporarily out of stock” at Amazon.ca, while Amazon.com is selling one new and three used copies for almost $200.

Since Gaspereau prepares books at its editorial offices and printshop in Kentville, Nova Scotia, producing new copies takes time. Publisher Gary Dunfield told Q&Q that reprints of The Sentimentalists will be shipped to stores early next week.
