Penguin Classics partners with Indigo to go (RED)

In May, Penguin Classics launched a partnership with the charitable AIDS organization (PRODUCT)RED, releasing a series of eight redesigned Penguin Classics titles. Now, the publisher is launching an expanded line of (RED) books — 16 classics including Anton Chekhov’s The Lady with the Little Dog and Gustave Flaubert’s Sentimental Education — to be sold for the first time through Indigo starting Dec. 1.

According to a press release, the titles were “selected for their ability to entertain and inspire.” Unlike traditional Penguin Classics, the books’ covers will be predominantly red  with evocative quotations from those works used as illustrations. Half of the profits will go to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.
