David Gilmour’s new novel will be the inaugural title on HarperCollins Canada’s new imprint, Patrick Crean Editions.

Set over the course of an evening, Extraordinary follows a brother and his half-sister as they reminisce about their lives while preparing for her assisted death. Publication is slated for fall 2013.

In October, Crean revealed that Esi Edugyan‘s untitled third novel will appear on his eponymous imprint. Crean was at the helm at Thomas Allen Publishers when Edugyan’s novel Half-Blood Blues won the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Thomas Allen also published three of Gilmour’s most recent books, including his 2005 Governor General’s Literary Award”winning novel A Perfect Night to Go to China.

Earlier this week, Crean announced he acquired Brian Payton’s novel The Wind Is Not a River, a love story set in 1943 on the Japanese-occupied Aleutian Islands.
