Authors launch online auction to aid Philippines typhoon victims

A group of international authors has banded together to support victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which hit the Philippines on Nov. 8, with an online literary auction. All proceeds go to the British Red Cross’s Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.

More than 472 items are currently up for auction, including signed copies of A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, Life after Life by Kate Atkinson, The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon, and various titles by Linda Newbery, David Nicholls, Caitlin Moran, and others. Some authors are also offering to include winning bidders as characters in upcoming books. Also available: Skype sessions, manuscript critiques, school visits, and even platonic dates with noted authors.

The auction closes at 8 pm GMT on Nov. 20.
