OLA announces 2016 Forest of Reading nominees

forestbannerThe Ontario Library Association has announced the nominees for their 2016 Forest of Reading Awards: The Blue Spruce (K–Gr.2); Silver Birch fiction (Gr.5–6), non-fiction (Gr.5–6), and express (Gr.3–4); Red Maple (Gr.7–8); White Pine (Gr.9–12); two French-language awards and two adult awards.

More than 250,000 children across the province between kindergarten and Grade 12 will participate in selecting the winners through Canada’s largest recreational reading program. Schools, libraries, literacy clubs and centres, and individuals can register to take part and vote for their favourite books.

The winning titles will be announced at the Festival of Trees, taking place May 17–19 at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. The annual event also includes author signings, workshops, and kid-friendly live entertainment.
