Scholastic Canada to publish new Harry Potter

HPCC_Placeholder_CoverNotFinal-1Scholastic Canada has announced that it (and its U.S. counterpart) will release the eighth story in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II will be available at 12:01 a.m. on July 31, 2016.

The newest instalment in the blockbuster series is a script book of the play by the same name, written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by Thorne, Rowling, and John Tiffany. The play will premiere in London’s West End on July 30.

The book (and play) take fans into the world of an adult Harry, now working at the Ministry of Magic, and the father of three school-aged children. When his youngest son, Albus, begins to struggle with his unwanted family legacy, both father and son must face the darkness that arises.

A “special rehearsal edition” of the script book will be available for a limited time. A “definitive collector’s edition,” based on the final script post-premiere, will be released at a later date.
