Harlequin shutters Blaze imprint, shifts some North American distribution online

harlequinToronto-based romance publisher Harlequin Books, a subsidiary of HarperCollins Publishers, is ceasing publication of its Blaze imprint. It also will be making changes to distribution for its Romance and Historical imprints in North America.

Blaze, one of the press’s “steamier” lines, will shutter in June 2017, though past titles will still be available from the publisher’s website and other digital retailers. Harlequin has told media sources it will be launching a “passion” series with a “fresh new approach” as Blaze ends.

The press release also states that beginning in July 2017, print and ebook versions of titles under Harlequin’s Romance and Historical imprints will no longer be sold in stores, but will only be available through direct-to-consumer online channels in North America.
