The Whistler Writers Festival has announced its the lineup for its 2016 edition‚ taking place at various locations across the B.C. city Oct. 13–16. Events include readings‚ speaker panels‚ workshops‚ music‚ and more. The first-ever Canadian awards for independent publishing‚ the Whistler Independent Book Awards‚ will also be presented.
Emma Donoghue‚ the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize–winning author of Room (and its feature film adaptation) will headline the event alongside Vancouver writer Madeleine Thien‚ nominated for this year’s Man Booker Prize for Do Not Say We Have Nothing and Jane Urquhart‚ acclaimed Governor General’s Literary Award–winning novelist. Other participants include genre writers Nick Bantock‚ Peter Robinson‚ and Joy Fielding; non-fiction writers Deborah Campbell and Ronald Wright; and Araxi chef James Walt for a Cooks with Books event.
