Polaris winner Lido Pimienta to perform “live graphic novel”

Lido PimientaLido Pimienta, the Toronto-based, Colombian-born musician who took home this year’s Polaris Prize for her album La Papessa, will be performing what she describes as a “live graphic novel” at this year’s Caminos Festival, Oct. 6 at Daniels Spectrum in Toronto.

The 20-minute show, titled We’re in a Non-Relationship Relationship, is written by Pimienta and directed by Gein Wong. The show guide gives a synopsis of the piece: “I can cope with rejection. I am an independent woman, I need my space, I need more time for myself, you know what I mean? Like I feel as though life has something in store for me, something bigger than myself, I can reach so high and far you know?”

Earlier this year, the multidisciplinary artist made her first appearance at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival.
