A long-standing Toronto Chapters store has shut down after 18 years in the North York community. Chapters Bayview, located at the Bayview Village Shopping Centre, announced the closure on Jan. 2 via social media. A new Indigo Books & Music location is expected to open in the summer or early fall at the nearby Fairview Mall. Indigo, which owns the Chapters retail chain, currently operates a Coles store in Fairview.

On the other side of the country, construction is set to begin this month as the Chapters location at Orchard Park Shopping Centre in Kelowna, B.C., rebrands into an Indigo and expands its lifestyle and gift offerings. According to a local business website, the $1.9 million renovation is expected to wrap up this summer.
