Coach House suspends poetry program

Coach House Books has announced it is temporarily placing its poetry program “on hiatus.”

While assuring that projects under commission or slated for publication in 2018 and 2019 will go ahead, the Toronto press also notes that they will not be accepting new poetry submissions until further notice, while they “revisit the mandate, policies, and procedures that guide our poetry list.”

This is not the first time Coach House has taken a break from poetry. The press briefly suspended acquisitions in 2011 upon the departure of Kevin Connolly and the establishment of its new poetry board, comprising Jeramy Dodds and Susan Holbrook. Coach House publisher Alana Wilcox confirms that the in light of the program being on hiatus, the board will be dismantled as well.
