The Cookbook Store’s Alison Fryer to open shop in All the Best Fine Foods

Alison Fryer, who formerly managed downtown Toronto’s long-standing The Cookbook Store before its closure in March, is teaming up with All the Best Fine Foods to open a cookbook department in the specialty store’s Summerhill location.

All the Best Cookbooks, to open on Nov. 20, will host themed dinners, visiting author-chefs, cooking classes, and more. Fryer will curate a section called Alison’s Picks, which will carry more than 60 cookbooks alongside selections by All the Best Fine Foods founder and culinary author Jane Rodmell.

Fryer told the Toronto Star that her “enthusiasm has not waned” since the shuttering of The Cookbook Store and that she’s confident in the genre’s staying power. She also noted Rodmell’s intimidating cookbook collection, saying, “she’s my kind of woman.”

Ben McNally Books made a similar move in September, partnering with Oliver & Bonacini for a pop-up cookbook shop in the Hudson’s Bay department store’s Queen Street location.
