Children’s book author and illustrator Barbara Reid has been appointed a member of the Order of Canada, which “recognizes a lifetime of distinguished service in or to a particular community, group or field of activity.”

The best-selling creator of more than 20 titles, Reid was cited for her “contributions as a children’s book illustrator and author, widely known for her creative use of the medium of plasticine.”

In 2012, Reid was appointed to the Order of Ontario. In February, she was presented the Queen Elizabeth ll Diamond Jubilee Medal, which honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
