There’s been more ink spilled in the mainstream press on Doug Pepper’s plans to reshape McClelland & Stewart since taking over as president earlier this year. Judy Stoffman writes in the Toronto Star that Pepper is on the prowl for young writers, and based on this article, our advice to aspiring authors looking to sign with M&S is to get yourself some tattoos, or better yet, some piercings. Speaking of one recent signing, journalist Dominic Patten, Pepper tells Stoffman, “Dominic is about 35 and he’s got tattoos and his proposal was fabulous.” We’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he wasn’t listing those points in order of importance.
