The village of Woody Point (population 300) more than doubles in size during its annual writers’ festival, with tickets selling out in minutes. Hosted by CBC Radio’s Shelagh Rogers, Woody Point boasts a who’s who of Newfoundland literature, late-night parties, musical performances by the likes of Sarah Harmer, John K. Samson, and the legendary Ron Hynes, against the gorgeous landscape of Gros Morne National Park.
