Telling Tales, a Hamilton-based organization that promotes and financially supports children’s literature, has awarded funds to three literacy groups.

Early Literacy Hamilton’s Read to Your Baby program received $5,200, the city’s Rotary Summer Literacy Program for at-risk youth was given $5,000, and the Hamilton Literacy Council was the recipient of $1,800.

Susan Jasper, chair and founder of Telling Tales, said in a press release:

It’s incredibly satisfying to be able to give $12,000 back to literacy projects within our community. These organizations are important literacy resources in the Hamilton community and each have played an active role in building and supporting our festival.

The festival has raised almost $100,000 for local literacy projects since its inception in 2009.
