Woman owns 9,500 books

Remember that old cliché “be careful what you wish for?” Emily Wilson of the Coulee News in West Salem, Wisconsin, reports on the life of a woman employed in a profession that ranks high among a book-lover’s list of dream jobs: full-time book reviewer. Terri Schlichenmeyer’s review column is syndicated in more than 100 small- to medium-circulation newspapers and magazines. She reads five to seven books per week, and does not remember plots of most books she’s read for longer than two weeks. In case the job still sounds appealing, Emily Wilson reports: “Because of a lack of time, Schlichenmeyer said it’s been two years since she’s read a book for pleasure.”
