Englishman ploughs through notoriously long Russian novel 15 times

Most Russians can’t stand it; some English can’t get enough of it. Today Tanya Gold of the Guardian reports the results of an informal poll that asks, “How many times have you read War and Peace?” Responses vary from Harold Pinter and Will Self’s once, to AS Byatt’s five times, to BBC political editor Andrew Marr’s whopping 15. Feel dull and slow-witted, even a little embarrassed, about never having finished? Not to worry. One respondent was even reported to have thrown his copy out.
