HarperCollins U.K. apologizes for omitting Israel from atlas, will pulp remaining copies

HarperCollinsUK logoHarperCollins U.K. has released a statement on its Facebook page apologizing for omitting Israel from its Collins Middle East Atlas.

According to the Bookseller, the international Catholic newspaper, the Tablet, discovered that the atlas, which is marketed to English-speaking schools in the Middle East, illustrates Jordan and Syria as extending to the Mediterranean Sea.

Although HarperCollins stated that the book has been “removed from sale in all territories and all remaining stock will be pulped,” the Facebook page is (not surprisingly) still generating many reader comments.
