Ampersand Inc. is an award-winning Canadian sales agency, representing the coolest books, stationery, puzzles, gifts & games coast to coast across a number of different publishers & gift lines. We work with some of the best Canadian indie publishers, as well as a wide array of US & UK publishers. We are currently looking for an Account Manager to join our team, based out of the Richmond, BC office for a 14-month maternity leave contract position.
Ampersand Account Managers are responsible for selling our clients’ lists and serve as the liaison between clients and accounts. We are the face of our clients to the customer and serve as advocates for our customers to our clients. We make sure the right products get sold to the right accounts and make it as easy as possible for them to stock and sell our clients’ products. Account managers are aware of the business climate in their territories and are always searching out new account possibilities.
The successful applicant will have experience in the world of books (as a bookseller, an account manager, or in another publishing or book related position), and will work closely with an account list of book and gift stores to sell in new titles and support sales strategies. Reporting to and meeting with client publishers is also an important aspect of this position; we meet with our publishers twice a year digitally, once per year in person, and interact frequently via phone and email.
This position requires an organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented person, who is excited to sit down with buyers and talk books, sales strategies, and more! Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Word, etc) comfortably is necessary. This position will work out of our Richmond BC office Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday and Friday available as either work-from-home or office days. As this position does involve travelling to meet with accounts throughout BC, a car and valid drivers license are required. Ampersand also requires that employees have an up-to-date COVID vaccination, in order to facilitate travel and in person meetings.

The salary range for this position is $45,000-$48,000 plus a monthly car allowance, bonus plan, paid benefits, and three weeks vacation prorated over the term of the contract (plus the week between Christmas and New Year’s when our offices are closed).
