8-week remote paid internship through Canada Summer Jobs
$20 hourly for 35 hours per week
Preferred start date May 24, 2021
Open to youth aged 15 to 30 years
Faolan’s Pen Publishing is seeking a research support officer. The officer will be responsible for creating an off-line wiki that catalogues the details of ships, planets, individuals and technologies as mentioned in six science fiction novels. This database will assist the author with creating additional works in the universe. The officer will work independently (with supervision and support) on this project and take ownership over it.
In addition to creating the wiki, the officer will learn how a small press functions through contact with a team of four. The officer will also support the publishing associate and operations manager with items such as book launch promotion, competitor research, and advertising research. Other tasks may be delegated based on need and the interest of the successful candidate.
This is a remote position, with daily contact and mentoring by the Faolan’s Pen team. The ideal candidate will be working towards or hold an honours or masters degree, or dual post-secondary degrees. We are also willing to consider a combination of work or volunteer experience and education as demonstrated by the application. The successful candidate will have research and cataloguing experience, have an ability to work independently, and have an interest in marketing and the science fiction publishing world.
Faolan’s Pen is committed to diversity and inclusion in publishing and strongly encourages LGBTQ+ and BIPOC candidates. This position is open to youth aged 15 to 30 years, and applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected under refugee status to be eligible.
Please send your resume and cover letter to hiring manager Jack Giesen at email@example.com and highlight your applicable experience and interests in the cover letter.
