For the 2012 edition of One Book One Island, the PEI Public Library Service has selected Guy Delisle’s Burma Chronicles. The 2008 graphic-novel memoir recounts the year the Quebec author lived in Myanmar with his wife, a project manager with Médecins Sans Frontières, and their infant son.
PEI Public Library Service and the provincial government launched the island-wide book club last year. In a press release, tourism and culture minister Robert Henderson says One Book One Island is “a fun way to promote literacy and create a province-wide discussion on reading.
It’s also a boon to the book’s publisher, Montreal’s Drawn & Quarterly: additional copies of the title, both in English and French, will be available at all 26 library branches of the PEI Public Library Service throughout the year.
