Calgary Library Foundation hosts book drive this weekend

This Saturday, the Calgary Public Library Foundation and the City of Calgary are hosting a city-wide book drive to raise funds to replace thousands of books destroyed in last month’s flood and the extensive damage to the central branch.

20,000 Books Under the Bow is accepting gently used books, DVDs, and CDs at all library locations (with the exception of Central Library, which is closed until further notice). The library foundation has partnered with BetterWord Books, an online bookseller that contributes to literacy causes, which will list the books on Amazon and other online retailers.

Libraries will be selling 20,000 Books Under the Bow t-shirts, with proceeds going towards replenishing library collections.

The foundations has also established a flood recovery fund that is seeking donations.
